My favorite was submitting something to The Toast, a site that had 2 editors. I’d worked with them both before for the site so I sent it to both of their email addresses in one email. One replied and rejected it but didn’t copy the other and then soon after I got an excited acceptance from the other editor. I replied to clarify and they apologized and it got published.
I love this story, Rachel! A no followed by a yes is the best kind of rejection. The Toast was awesome. I don't think I managed to pitch them before they shuttered.
