What the hell is The Bleeders?
The Bleeders is a podcast and newsletter (and support group!) for writers, book lovers, and people in the publishing industry.
Each week, I’ll send out a new interview with an author, editor, agent, publisher, or writer with a work in progress. I’ll also include some “Online Reading About Writing,” news from literary Twitter, and recommendations for books, art of all stripes, and other things that are inspiring me.
Sounds pretty cool, right? So why don’t you go ahead and subscribe:
I hope to nurture this into a valuable community for writers. Please feel at home in the comments section — sharing book recs, celebrating your pub date, commenting on an interview takeaway, etc. — and reach out with any questions, feedback, or suggestions. Got a topic, author, or industry guest you think I should cover? Hit me up!
If you like what you read, share it with a friend! I’m thrilled to welcome new Bleeders into the fold (the free bleed? sorry, I’m done).
Okay, but what’s up with the title?
You know Hemingway didn’t actually say that, right?
Yes, I’m now aware that this quote has most likely been misattributed a million times on the internet. But frankly, who cares? It’s a great quote and we all love lore… isn’t that why we got into this?
What kind of weird bitch is behind this?
Hi, my name is Courtney Kocak. I’m a Los Angeles-based writer, podcaster, and comedian.
A little bit about me:
The first year of the pandemic, I wrote a draft of my essay collection in Catapult’s 12-Month Essay Generator led by Chloe Caldwell. I’m currently rewriting it into a memoir-in-essays.
I just got my first byline in Cosmopolitan: My Tokyo Happy Ending Massage Changed Everything I Thought I Knew About Sex and Pleasure
Here are a couple of essays about how bad I am at breakups:
I also host Private Parts Unknown, a podcast about love and sexuality around the world.
